SILIFAIVA TIME

We had a GREAT time when Mat's brother Tali and his family came up to visit. We were so glad that they made time to hang out with us in their crazy amusement park hopping schedule. Here are some pictures of Lana totally in heaven with her cousins and Mat having a great time in the Bocce Ball Championship. Tough competition! Tali, Kaulana, Kama, Noa and Avei: thanks so much for letting us hang out with you and for all the fun we had at Disneyland! Amira- we sure missed you and hope to see you soon!

"I look so cool!"

On one of our hot walks around the neighborhood I bought Lana these "cool Dora sunglasses." As we were on our way back home I hear her say, "Mom, I look soooo cool! Take a picture!" How could I refuse??!

Lana is becoming quite a good helper in the kitchen. (too bad I haven't felt like spending so much time in there anymore! Too bad for Mat too! haha) Here, she is helping make some garlic bread and having a really fun time. We pretended to toss the dough like they do at pizza places.

It's the thought that counts

This is not my first choice of preggo pictures to post, but I just think this picture is really funny. Our friends took this picture of us on Thursday at our weekly volleyball night. So, we're pregnant- I'm having a boy and Mat's having a volleyball. (should be a soccer ball!) Sorry the pictures fuzzy...

My, how 1 hour flies by!

Today I finally took Lana to the Ikea "smaland" kids playground. This is the smartest idea EVER which is just another reason why Ikea is so great. You can sign your child in for an hour and they give you a little pager to take around the store in case of an emergency. She was so super excited because she was a big girl (aka: potty trained and tall enough) and got to play with the other kids. I watched her for a second and in that second she made 5 new friends and forgot all about me. This was the first time I can remember that I was able to casually roam around the store. I wasn't even planning on buying anything- I just wanted to look. So much for that plan! Mat called and when I told him I was at Ikea he was like, "oh great!" Haha. Anyway, that one hour really went by fast and both Lana and I had a great time. Those Swedes really think of it all.

And rightly so

I was sent into time-out yesterday by my three year old. It's so funny how she's so aware of how I'm feeling. My hormones are raging and I've been a little more grumpy than usual. About 10 times a day Lana will say, "Are you mad, mom?" Haha, poor thing...she has to live with me all day. Here's to many more time outs for this mama. (Truth be told: I love my time-outs. All 30 seconds of peace)

Can the heat make you cry? YES!

Today Lana and I got ready to meet some friends at the park. I usually walk since it's not very far at all. That is, on a REGULAR DAY. When we got about a block from our house I start to realize how stinking HOT IT IS. (try 101 degrees) I feel like the life is being sucked out of me. I brought two bottles of ice water and kept stopping to hydrate myself. Then as I'm walking tears come to my eyes because I realize that not too long ago I could walk across the street to Hukilau beach and just spend the whole day there. Images of the trees blowing in the wind and the sound of the waves crashing against the shore went through my mind and I almost broke down crying. Is it the hormones or is it the HEAT? Probably both.

PS. We made it to the park pretty quick and had fun visiting and playing with our friends. Got a ride from them back home. I guess I looked pretty pathetic and they couldn't bear to see me walking back home. hahaha
