It has become a tradition between myself and Lana that for every doctors appointment I have we go to the mall afterwards (sometimes even before). It's right next to the hospital and I like this mall because it has a carousel and nice little play area for Lana. Also, they have Target so I can finish my quick runs to get things I actually need as well as want. Ha! Anyway, yesterday Lana and I had a fun time together and I've noticed that she's quite a fun little companion now and I'll ask for her opinion on things. I found two really cute shirts that I wanted to get for our little boy on the way- but they were size 18months (is it too early to buy that size?) and I couldn't decide which one I liked better. Lana held them up for me to decide: the tiger or the dragon? We decided to get the tiger and then I decided to get it next week when I go for ANOTHER dr's appointment. Then Lana did some posing as we were shopping...and to top off our mall trip she was "really brave" and rode on the tiger at the carousel. We had a fun time and it sort of made up for the horrible experience I had getting my blood drawn. I will not go into details but today I have a big purple bruise two inches in diameter on my arm. NICE.

Word of Wisdom 101
A mother of one of Lana's little classmates told me this story on Friday: Lana and her friend were playing in the sandbox with cups and her friend was pretending to serve coffee. Lana goes, "Oh, we don't drink coffee! We drink milk or water." The other mother thought it was cute and I did too and a little part of me was happy that all our little talks are sinking in. I've found myself rushing Lana past people who are smoking- not only to avoid the smoke, but to avoid her saying (like she's done before) "Mom! They're smoking! That's a bad choice! Ewww!"

One More Name for the List
As we were driving around last night, Lana came up with the best name for her list so far.
Lana: "Mom, I know what we should name my little brother!"
Me: "Oh yeah, what's that?"
Lana: "Jesus! Because he's really nice."
Me: "You're right...that's a great name." (thinking: oh boy that would go over well.)

Sheena is SO there
I would like to remind all of you that tomorrow is one of my favorite days of the year: Ben & Jerry's Free Cone Day. Yes, it's true. Tuesday, April 21st, 2009 is the one day this year where you can get a yummy cone for free. This will be my third time taking advantage of this offer. I remember the first time I heard about it and Nadia, Kristine, Jo and I enjoyed it together in Silver Spring (we went back for seconds hehehe). And then last year I talked my good friend Jackie into joining me and we ended up waiting for a long time for the store to open...but in my eyes it was worth it. Just a heads up, the stores are offering the free cones from noon to 8pm. Enjoy!

Lana's top 5 names for her baby brother
These are the top 3 names that Lana has suggested in recent weeks for her little brother:
1.Toys
2.Princess Aurora
3. Flowers
There are many others that she has suggested but these are the ones she REALLY likes. She'll say the name with our last name to see how it sounds together. "Toys....Toys Tanigawa!" What a helpful little girl I have!

Lots of Little Things
Mat has been out of town for this week and unlike times before, he was gone the entire week not just a few days. (I will get no sympathy from Jackie E. on that one!) I was determined to do all the girlie things this week that I've been meaning to do (watch a few chick flicks, get a pedicure, go shopping, etc.) but didn't really get around to doing much of that. So, how did I fill my week without my sweetie pie? It went as follows:
Monday:
dropped Mat off in my PJ's and Lana sound asleep
wore matching "I Love DC" shirts with Lana to work out at the gym (needed to do laundry!)
Went to Walmart and thought about buying stuff to start a garden
Went home and did laundry
Watched Despereaux with Lana. Those rats are scary!
Tuesday:
Went to story time at Borders. Saw Kathy Ireland and Eric Estrada who were there doing a book signing. So random, huh?
Walked through the mall, ate a pretzel
Recycled our two small bags of bottles and got $2.30 this time. Whohoo!
Rented Marley & Me. Lana and I both cried at the end and had a discussion about dying. Nice.
Wednesday:
Hit the gym again. A trainer made a comment that I keep coming to the gym and I'm still getting bigger. After he learns I'm 6 months pregnant, it all makes sense to him.
Did the dishes I had been avoiding
Devoured my favorite magazine: Real Simple
Went to the park and it was soooo cold I had to bribe Lana to leave early
Checked out the Farmers Market and Lana had a blast on the bouncer and in the petting zoo. Bought some yummy strawberries!
Thursday:
Lounged around forever but made a good breakfast and lunch
Took a nap and missed an invitation to the park with our friends (dang it)
Lounged around some more
Ended up going to the park later that afternoon
Went to the gym real quick
Wanted to go get some fast food for dinner when Lana talked me out of it and wanted leftovers.
Played volleyball...carefully and slowly! :)
Friday:
Waited for Lana to get up (she was tired from a late night at volleyball) so we could go to her playschool.
Showed up 40min late to her school, but still had fun. She painted the cutest flower for her art project.
Thought about going to IKEA to get some stuff but Lana was being a stinker so we ended up going home (saving money).
Went to Trader Joes and ordered pizza for Lana's little friends who we're watching tonight.
Right now I'm watching my friend's 4 kids and can't wait for Mat to get home tomorrow. It turns out that at this very moment he's at the Nielsen's house playing Fifa with his buddy, Giff. Hmmm....

Little Kicker
I'm at the point in this pregnancy where I can REALLY feel the baby moving around and I love it. It's my favorite part of being pregnant. Sometimes this little guy catches me by surprise and really socks me a good one! Mat and I keep having funny conversations about what this next baby is going to be like. We find that Lana is more outgoing and active like me with stubbornness and likes things a particular way like Mat. So, I'm hoping the next one is super laid back and mellow like Mat and NOT PICKY like me. hmmm...we shall see.

Mom's are the Best
It's been wonderful the past few days. First of all, we had U'i (Mat's little sister) come visit us and then my mom. They have been so fun and we're all having a great time. But I must say it's so nice to have my mom around- she's the greatest and Lana is just loving all this special time with her. Today for Lana's birthday she helped to make it extra wonderful. Thanks, mom! LOVE YOU! You too, U'i- we miss you!
